Lots of choices there-but i love to ride in Crested Butte (401, Deer Creek, Tep Ridge) Hartman Rocks is so cool), and in the desert (Frutia & Moab, of course). Along the front range my favorites are Centennial Cone and Buffalo Creek-love the places!!
Favorite bikes:
I have 4 bikes in total – a 1987 Stumpjumper that is my townie bike, my Orbea Lobular50 road bike, a 2004 Yeti AS-R, and my favorite current bike, my Mountain Goat Route29 Singlespeed – it totally rocks!! But is there a Black Sheep in my future…hmmmmm???
Pre-race superstitions:
Not really…get last minute encouragement and a game plan in my head from my coach, Yuki Saito, but other than that, it's just ‘try to stay calm and ride the race plan’…until that goes out the window.
Training regimen:
Yes, whatever Yuki tells me to do. And don’t’ forget to REST!!
Favorite music to listen to while training:
Upbeat, moving rock and roll -- Fratelli’s, PUSA, Franz Ferdinand, Black Keys, White Stripes, Spin Doctors, sprinkle in a little old Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, etc. Good to go!!
Favorite type of events:
Grassroots events like the Gunnison Growler and the Laramie Enduro – awesome laid-back atmosphere from the organizers and a fun, congenial, positive approach from the racers…life is too short to race pretentious, self-aggrandizing events and give those turkeys my money!!
Best personal achievement on the bike since riding for Bach Builders:
Ummm…just being PART of Bach Builders is a personal achievement – it's all gravy from here!
2010 race season goals:
Race great races with cool, laid-back people, get faster and stronger and smarter, and have unimaginable amounts of fun outside with my team and my friends. Maybe a podium or two wouldn’t hurt ;>)
